Sara Jane Demy: Sara is an expert at orchestrating and designing programs that achieve long-term strategic objectives. Since launching Demy-Colton Life Science Advisors, Sara co-founded the Biotech Showcase™,
an investor conference designed to give biotechnology companies a home at a major investor conference that originally focused on biotechnology. She also conceptualized, designed and helped launch Partnering for Cures with FasterCures, a meeting dedicated to bringing together medical philanthropists with medical research foundations and the biopharmaceutical industry and she has partnered with the Center for Biotechnology to relaunch the Life Sciences Summit as the only translational science partnering meeting.
Prior to launching Demy-Colton Life Science Advisors, Sara was Vice President, Business Development & Investor Relations and head of the New York Office for the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). In that capacity, she was responsible for building a portfolio of dynamic and cutting-edge programs designed to help biotech companies raise capital and form strategic partnerships. Programs and events launched and developed during Sara's tenure with BIO included:
- Investor Conferences such as the BIO CEO & Investor Conference, BIO Investor Forum, BIO's regional venture conferences;
- Partnering Conferences such as the Business Forum at BIO's Annual Meeting, BIO-Europe, BIO-Europe Spring, and BIO Asia;
- Training Programs including the CEO Bootcamp and the Presentation Workshops.
Prior to joining BIO, Sara was the Director of International Investment for the State of New York where she focused on attracting investment in high technology sectors. During her career with New York, Sara assisted companies with financing and establishing US operations, was an integral member of the team that rethought how a state could support high-tech industries, managed special projects and organized and led numerous delegations overseas.
Since joining the Demy-Colton Life Sciences Team, Alex has developed Collaborate™,the next generation of partnering systems. Collaborate is intuitive, lightweight, flexible and cost-effective. In addition, a version of Collaborate has been developed for use by the pharmaceutical industry to manage their partnering and meeting activities at events such as the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference and their own venture meetings.
Prior to joining the Demy-Colton Life Sciences team, Alex was the lead developer of partnering technology for the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) which developed and launched a number of highly successful industry partnering and investor conferences, including the Business Forum at the BIO International Convention and the BIO CEO & Investor Conference. Prior to that Alex was the lead the developer of OncoTraq, an autologous product manufacturing control system for Antigenics, Inc., a biotechnology company engaged in the discovery and development of immunotherapeutics for the treatment of life-threatening and chronic medical conditions. Prior to joining Antigenics, Alex was a life science analyst for CIBC World Markets. Alex holds a masters degree in biology from the Moscow State University.
Lawrence Joseph: Lawrence has an extensive and varied work experience that gives him a wealth of knowledge in meeting the needs of the client while providing a service that is personable, proficient, and professional. With more than 10+ years experience in the hospitality industry, Lawrence has been a VIP attendant, trainer, guest relations associate and assistant event coordinator. Most recently, he was a leader in the hospitality department of one of New Jersey’s most prestigious private golf clubs, Hamilton Farm. There, he played a key role in member retention as well as new member development. Lawrence is also a musical theatre performing artist and has been seen on many stages including in New York City and regional theatre. Lawrence’s attention to detail and unrelenting dedication has been a key component to his success.
Lawrence has a diploma as a medical language specialist and he attended the University of Houston where he studied accounting and theatre.
Steve Suriano: Steve is an experienced communications executive with more than eight years experience advising and providing services for companies in the biotechnology industry. Steve has managed highly successful programs including major industry conferences, product-launch initiatives, executive training workshops, corporate road shows and analyst and investor meetings.Prior to joining the Demy-Colton Life
Sciences team, Steve was a Senior Account Executive with Russo Partners
LLC, where he managed corporate communications, investor relations, and
marketing communications programs for corporate clients in the life
sciences. Prior to Russo Partners, Steve was the Investor Relations
Manager for the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). In this
capacity, Steve directed major industry investor conferences, including
the BIO CEO & Investor Conference and the BIO Investor Forum. In
addition, Steve organized executive training programs for executives in
the biotechnology industry. Steve holds a bachelors degree in Biology
from the College of the Holy Cross and is a member of the National
Investor Relations Institute.
